Imagine for a minute if corporate-sponsored mouthpieces like Limbaugh and O’Reilly were correct on either of these points:

  • Global warming is a hoax
  • Humans are not responsible for climate change

Well, guess what? It wouldn’t change the green movement’s primary mission. Because while some waste valuable time debating deniers, every 24 hours

  • 13 million tons of toxic chemicals are released across the globe
  • Over 100 plant or animal species go extinct
  • 200,000 acres of rainforest are destroyed
  • 45,000 humans die of starvation

And that’s just the tip of the melting iceberg…

WATCH VIDEO: An Inconvenient Truth

Climate change, of course, connects to many of the pressing green issues but our eco-system would be in peril even if the deniers are right. We’d still have 80 percent of the world’s forests gone. We’d still have 90 percent of the large fish in the ocean gone. In other words, we’d still have an urgent need to dismantle industrial civilization and work towards a greener future.

Definitely read the entire article but here’s a preview of the five things:

2. Factory Farming

3. Deforestation

4. Overfishing

5. The Use of Pesticides

Religion & Climate Change

Category : Uncategorized

I recently received an email from the Environment Defense Fund about religion and climate change.  I think it’s great clergy are getting involved by encouraging their members to take better care of the earth God has given us.

from the letter…

A number of religious leaders of Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, and other faiths have formed a growing movement to transform society from their pulpits by emphasizing the connection between ecology and religion.

Their sermons inspire, educate and mobilize people with topics including climate change, renewable energy technologies and public policy to cut greenhouse gases.

This doesn’t mean environmentalism is turning into a religion, Browning explains, but that religion harnesses the power of love and faith, both of which bind us to nature, other humans and the health of our planet and inspire us to take action when these are in danger.

“The fact is,” Browning writes, ”in order to succeed in significantly altering the global course of climate change, we are going to have to harness all the power we have, whether it is the power of the market, the power of technology, or the power of heart and soul.”

Bath & Body Works and Animal Testing

1

Category : Beauty

I recently noticed that Bath & Body Works states on their label:  “This finished product is not tested on animals.”  So – think that through – that’s great to know the lotion your purchasing was not specifically tested on innocent animals but what this is really saying is that at least some of the individual ingredients used in the formula WERE TESTED ON ANIMALS!  This is AWFUL!  Please don’t purchase their products anymore.  This is such a disgusting way to make people think their products are cruelty free when in fact they certainly had something to do with inhumane treatment of animals.
