    Pomegranate Hand Cream – Weleda

    Pomegranate Hand Cream

I recently was in the market for a new hand cream.  After spending a great deal of time wandering the skin care isles I settled on Weleda’s Pomegranate Hand Cream.  You may remember I did a give-away when they launched the line but was never able to try the products myself.

In the winter I do like something a little more heavy duty but this one is great for summer.  At first I didn’t think it would be moisturizing enough but I was wrong!  Although it isn’t super thick, it provides great moisture and smoothness without a greasy residue.  I’d definitely purchase it again.  It’s $12.50 for a 1.7oz tube which is great for your hand bag and considering how little I use at a time, it’s going to last me quite awhile!

Good news!  Hunt’s and Heinz are changing their formulas!  Hunt’s will be eliminating High-Fructose Corn Syrup and Heinz will be lowering their salt content!  Read more about it at Eat Drink Better.  Hopefully more companies will begin to do the same.

    Detox

Category : Food & Beverages, Health

Remember when I mentioned back in January how much I wanted to do the detox class at Karyn’s?  Well, guess, what??  I finally did it and it was amazing.  There were definitely some difficult days but all in all it was well worth it.  I learned a great deal about my body and how different foods affect me.  I was absolutely amazed at the HUGE impact it made on people with arthritis, problems sleeping, and many other conditions.  Prior to the detox I was vegan at home and as much as possible when I was out and about but now 100% vegan.  Shortly after coming off the detox I had a very dairy loaded meal (well, according to my scale) at a friend’s and the next day noticed some changes in my body – things that I’ve had for years, didn’t have during the detox, but got back after eating dairy.  Dairy is not necessary for our bodies and often causes problems for many people and as I found out, people most often don’t realize what big and little things it causes until they remove it from their diet and re-introduce it.  During the detox I got used to bringing my own food with me to parties so now that I’m used to it, it doesn’t seem to be a big deal to continue taking vegan things with me.  I didn’t want to be an inconvenience before, which is why I wasn’t 100% vegan.  I guess it just took being open with everyone about my detox and the different diet I was on for me to realize that it’s not that big of a deal to tell people that I don’t eat certain things.  I’m sure they’re not offended and I’m not inconveniencing them at all by bringing my own food – it’s not like I’m asking them to make a special meal for me :)

My goal is to do the detox at Karyn’s once a year.  Check out the details for yourself at Karyn’s Raw

    Cloth Napkins

Four 16 Inch Reversible Napkins in Turquoise and Green

Four 16 Inch Reversible Napkins in Turquoise and Green $18 from Jennifer Sews on Etsy

I love using cloth napkins.  I grew up using them so it really isn’t anything new to me.  They’re better for the environment and they just feel a little more special than a paper napkin.  I love the napkin idea I stole from my host family from when I studied in Spain in college.  Each person in the house has their own distinct napkin ring.  After using the napkin, it goes back in your own ring so you can reuse it later.  Most cloth napkins don’t really need to be washed after each use so it’s a great way to re-use it without having to worry about getting it mixed up with someone elses napkin.  Keep the same one for a few days or until you decide it needs washing and then pull out a new one and keep it in your special ring!  This not only saves trees, but it saves water!

I love the napkins pictured above – super cute but if you have a sewing machine you could get crafty and make your own!
