Winston Wednesday: Pontooning

Category : Animals

For the holiday weekend we spent some time with the family at the cabin. Winston had an absolute blast – I think he’d prefer to move up there! He spent hours on the shoreline in the water playing with rocks. He doesn’t like to swim but loves to be in the water as long as he can touch. Give him a rock to push around and he’s happy for hours!

This was Winston’s first time on the pontoon – he LOVED it!

Winston Wednesday: Corn on the Cob

Category : Animals

The other night we had some fabulous grilled corn for dinner. Winston loves chewing on the cob but he always makes such a mess with it so we’ve learned our lesson to only let him have it outside.

We gave him two cobs, both if which he quickly ran off with and buried – typical of a terrier!  Great after dinner entertainment for us.

Winston Wednesday: Wedding Memories

Category : Animals

Since we just celebrated our first anniversary I’ve been looking back at our photos and thinking of all the great moments of that day.  Other than the obvious joy of walking down the isle to see my soon to be husband, it was absolutely adorable to walk down the isle and see Winston waiting there for me.  He was so excited to see me that I ended up bending down and giving him some love before we moved forward with the ceremony.  We both owe Winston a lot – he’s the one to lighten the mood and make us feel better whenever times are frustrating, sad, stressful, etc.  It was so important to us to have them there on our big day.  This is one of  my favorite photos of Winston that day – we now have it hanging on the wall in our bedroom.

I know this was take from miles away but you can see little Winston on the stairs beneath us as we said our vows.

Winston Wednesday: MSU Collar

Category : Animals

Just in time for college football to start, Winston got a new Michigan State University collar from 4 Black Paws on Etsy.  The collar is adorable, very well made and Sarah was a pleasure purchase from.  If you’re not a MSU fan she has all kinds of other adorable collars and doggie gear.

Winston Wednesday

Category : Animals

I’m a big fan of the blog May December and I always look forward to Melissa’s “Monty Monday’s,” where she posts adorable photos of her dog Monty.  I hope she doesn’t mind me copying her idea, but I’m going to add Winston Wednesdays  to EcoCupscious.

After our weekend of camping we had loads and loads of laundry to tackle.  Monday morning I pulled a load out of the dryer before work and it took Winston no time at all to grab his Rudolph and hop in bed to snuggle up to the warm blankets.

Girl Scout Cookies Getting Better For Planet

I’m so happy to see that Girl Scouts USA are finally giving in and making an effort to change the palm oil they use in their cookies.  I don’t purchase the cookies anymore since I’m vegan but I was a Girl Scout and LOVED selling the cookies.  I event did it the old-school way and knocked on every door in the neighborhood – always selling over 100 boxes each year.

I had heard awhile back that they were using non-sustainable palm oil in their cookies but didn’t know the entire story until now.  A Time article told me all about the two young women (from Michigan of all places – my home state) who have spent the last few years standing up to the national organization to push them to switch to a sustainable palm oil or to find a substitute ingredient.  It sounds like they’re finally getting somewhere!  Read the article here…

Forks Over Knives Theaters

I saw Forks Over Knives earlier this year and think its a must see for all.  Even though I’m already vegan I certainly learned loads!  Vegetarian Star posted a cool online tool to help you find the nearest theater so you too can see this documentary!

Check out the Forks Over Knives Locator

(I love that their example on the post actually brings up my local theater!  Yay Chicago!)
