I don’t have kids and considering my ususal topics on here I don’t know how many of you – my readers – have kids. However, I saw this on Josie Maran’s blogand I think it’s just the greatest thing ever. When I was young I collected my fair share of crayons and after a time they ended up in a big, orange Halloween bucket. The little bits and pieces were pretty worthless but even at that age I wasn’t one to throw things out. If I remember correctly I ended up packaging up the gently used ones into little packs in plastic baggies and tied them with ribbon and donated them along with other gently used toys to a toy drive at the fire department. It was a nice gesture on my part but I have a feeling whoever did the sorting likely trashed my baggies of crayons seeing as a box of new crayons could be scored for $0.99. Anyway, my whole point here is that had I known that I could’ve just melted them down in baking trays and turned them into adorably shaped multicolored crayons, I’d have been all over that. I think these are absolutely adorable and I sure hope I don’t forget about this idea by the time I have kids with old, broken crayons.
Although posted on Josie’s blog, the actual idea came from Heather at Shivaya Naturals. A million thanks to Josie for introducing me to this blog – I’m going to be a regular reader!
