Friday night Eric and I went to one of our favorite restaurants:
Tarantino’s 1112 W Armitage AveChicago, IL 60614
(773) 871-2929
The weather was beautiful so we were able to enjoy a lovely evening walk to and from Tarantino’s. I’m a huge fan of Italian food so there are always several things on the menu that I want to order.
Upon arrival they serve a scoop of olive tapenade in a small bowl of olive oil to top their freshly baked bread. The olive flavor is light - not overpowering and the texture is creamy – simply delightful! I could seriously have just that along with a nice class of red wine and be happy – but then I’d be missing out on so many other wonderful things.
My favorite dish is the Butternut Squash Ravioli with pine nuts and a sage butter sauce. It is light and flavorful and doesn’t leave you feeling overstuffed and uncomfortable. For this occasion we decided to try a few new things - we ordered two appetizers and two salads to share between us. I know Bruschetta is Bruschetta, but theirs is quite delish – I’m sure the added feta cheese is part of what makes it different from the standard. The cold artichoke salad was fabulous with olives and tomatoes. Eric is a huge fan of Caesar Salad and theirs did NOT disappoint! I enjoyed the Beet Salad with green apples, arugula, walnuts and gorgonzola.
I absolutely MUST have dessert to complete a good meal but sometimes I am so full I end up having to pass. I don’t believe I’ve ever been able to make it to dessert at Tarantino’s ! Since we opted for the lighter meal I was FINALLY able to order their Tiramisu and it was FABULOUS! Definitely freshly made – very light and fluffy! Along with an espresso it was a perfect end to a wonderful evening.
