I was so so excited about the opening of TopShop in Chicago. I absolutely love TopShop and have been shopping there for years – my family in England introduced me to it years ago. As much as I wanted to buy a million things I tried to have some restraint and came home with this adorable top….
I was a bit frustrated with the jumper/sweater collection as they all had wool, which I no longer buy and a lot of the cute dresses had silk, which I also avoid. That aside, there were plenty of other items I wanted so I’ll definitely be going back. It’s so much fun to have the shop in town now – I adore it so much!
I had been waiting for these adorable sweatshirts for ages and I finally snagged myself the adorable pink one with elephants. I’m in LOVE! These Alternative Apparel shirts are super soft and cozy and Leanne’s animal prints make them so unique and a must for your wardrobe. With the wide neck I can even see throwing one on in the summer over shorts and a tank as the day cools off. They’re great all year round. More importantly they share an important message without screaming crazy vegan! Although when I put mine on Eric did tell me if I was really going to continue to ”do this vegan thing,” I need to darken my hair, get some tattoos and maybe dress a little more like Katy Perry. Funny he should mention that because I do have an appointment to go darker on Thursday but the tattoo thing still isn’t me and I’m pretty sure Katy Perry is only married to a vegan, not one herself, so I’m not really sure why he chose her – other than he thinks she’s hot
Eric is right though, that at first glance I don’t come off as the old stereotypical, edgy looking vegan, but that’s what I think is cool about it – veganism has become so much more main stream now that all different types of people are embracing it!
Anyway, now’s the time to get yourself one of these super cute sweatshirts!
Congrats to Vaute Couture for winning Company of the Year! So happy for them!!!
I love my first Alternative Apparel Annie Cowl Neck so much that I bought another one from Kind Boutique! The grey one I have is a thicker than the new one in oatmeal but I love it just as much - it feels even softer than the other – so cozy! I’ve been living in the grey one all fall so this new oatmeal one is a very welcomed additional to my wardrobe. These make getting away with a turtleneck fashionable rather than dorky old mom/kid turtlenecks. I highly recommend this as a Christmas gift or even a treat for yourself
Kind is running a buy more save more sale right now so it’s a great time to do some shopping and save up to 30%!
Its funny, yesterday I was thinking how nice it would be if there was an online sample sale type company that sold only eco-friendly brands…and this morning I got an email from Girly Girl Army telling me my dream has come true! Amazing! Pure Citizen is just what I was looking for! I’m super excited about this site. Check it out for yourself and be prepared for some great sales to come!
I’m loving this top for fall…I already ordered one from Kind Boutique!
$60 - Alternative Apparel Annie Cowl Neck
I’m so sad I’m going to miss this, but for those of you in Chicago you MUST go and tell me about all the fun!
I’m SUPER EXCITED about my latest purchase. I just ordered this adorable gray tank from Vaute Couture. Leanne, the fabulous vegan designer is also the model in the photo above. The tank is $32 and even better, shipping is only $2! I’m really looking forward to the fall when she offers sweatshirts similar to these tanks.
Boyfriend Jean - Mid Show $43
I never really thought about how dirty jeans are for the environment! Levi’s says…
1. Throughout its lifecycle, a pair of jeans consumes as much energy as powering a personal computer for 556 hours. You can reduce this by washing less and line drying when possible.
2. Almost half of the water that is used throughout the life of a pair of jeans takes place after you bring them home from the store. (don’t wash your jeans after every wear – wait as long as possible to save on water!)
3. The average person in the US throws away 68 pounds of clothing and textiles a year. (donate or recycle old jeans)
I just ordered this adorable tunic from Kind Boutique. I have it in grey and just love it. It’s a simple tunic that can be worn so many ways. Add a belt, leggings, and/or cuff/chunky bracelet. The Popomomo Bess Tunic in Pistachio Stripe is on sale for $46.
Tomorrow – Saturday, April 24, Chicago Buffalo Exchange resale stores will hold an Earth Day Dollar Day Sale. All proceeds from the sale of $1 items will benefit The Humane Society of the United States.
It’s your chance to find hip “pre-owned” clothing and accessories at a bargain, while helping animals. Funds will go to our “Don’t Trash Wildlife” effort and support our hands-on wildlife care centers.
Buffalo Exchange will provide tips from The HSUS on safe recycling and disposal of trash that can harm animals, and there will be an in-store drawing for a copy of our “Wild Neighbors” book. Happy shopping!
