Another great find from The All Things Organic Trade Show was the Ezekial 4:9 Sprouted Grain Pasta. It cooks in half the time of traditional pasta and is al dente – they warned not to over cook it so I’m not sure if it would soften a bit more if I were to cook it longer or if it would ruin it. I’ll take their word for it as I enjoyed it. I’ve tried many other products by Food For Life and I LOVE them! They pack in a lot of nutrition which most baked goods/pastas lack. Since I’m a vegetarian and comsume little to no dairy or eggs I like that the products have a decent amount of protein in them. You can easily find these products at Whole Foods Markets, health food stores and even conventional markets. If you don’t see their breads in with the fresh breads – check the freezer section!
When I first made this pasta, for a sauce I cut some fresh basil from garden, threw it in the mini food processor with olive oil, nutritional yeast, fresh garlic, sea salt and pepper and it was fantastic! I often skip recipes and make up my own stuff so I can’t give you exact measurements but play around with those ingredients. The best I can say is add stuff a little at a time to avoid over doing it
From their website…
“These unique all natural certified organic, certified kosher pastas are the first diabetic friendly, certified organic and sprouted whole grain pastas ever to be brought to market. This is great news for individuals with mild wheat sensitivities or those trying to keep blood glucose levels even. Additionally, because our pastas are made from sprouted whole grains rather than flour, they stay with you longer and consumers say they eat less. Our pastas come in four popular varieties, penne, spaghetti, fettuccini and linguini. They cook in about half the time regular pastas cook and have an amazing natural grain flavor. They are suitable for most of your favorite pasta recipes and will certainly inspire you to become more creative with new recipes.”
