PAWS Chicago's 5th Annual Animal Magnetism

Run For Their Lives – Chicago

Category : Animals

PAWS Chicago – Run For Their Lives September 26, 2010 at 9:00am

This is an awesome event which raises a lot of money and awarness for PAWS Chicago which I am a big supporter of :)

About the Event
Support PAWS Chicago’s mission to build a No Kill city by running or walking for homeless animals. Bring the whole family to participate in the child and pet-friendly walk, or compete against the clock in the 8K Run.

This annual event is extremely important to raising funds for PAWS Chicago’s life-saving programs.

PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is the city’s largest No Kill humane organization. Through a solution based approach to animal welfare, PAWS Chicago has placed Chicago on track to become a No Kill city where pets are no longer destroyed because they are homeless. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless pets euthanized per year has dropped from 42,561 to 19,288 – more than a 50 percent decrease!

Collect pledges and win prizes! Every dollar you raise goes directly to the animals.

Foster Homes Needed – Chicago

Category : Animals

PAWS Chicago is looking for foster homes for these adorable dogs and cats.  Most of these guys adn gals would do best in homes without other pets.  If you’re in need of a furry friend that is just a short term commitment, this is for you!  If you can’t foster now, considering signing up to be notified when future foster homes are needed :)

Can you help?  If you would like to provide a loving foster home for one of these deserving animals, please contact me (Sharyn) at 773-687-4715 or shosemann@pawschicago.org

Please read each bio thoroughly before replying and in your reply, please indicate which cat or dog you would like to foster.

Meet Cherry!

Cherry
Cherry as a kitten.

Cherry1
Cherry, all grown up!

Cherry is a very special cat who has a long history with PAWS Chicago. Cherry was adopted out as a kitten and returned as an adult. She is a little over 1 year old. Cherry has an eye condition, which will eventually blind her completely.  She has lost about 75% of her sight so far.

Cherry is currently in foster with a wonderful volunteer who loves her very much, but is unable to continuing fostering her.  We need to transfer Cherry into a new foster home as soon as possible.

Cherry needs to be the only cat in the home and would not do well living with a dog, as she is very stressed around dogs.

Cherry’s foster says that Cherry LOVES to cuddle and would do best in a home where someone is home often.

It is best for Cherry to be in a foster home as she becomes stressed at the center, especially when around other cats.

Please contact me if you can provide a foster home for this sweet and special girl!

Meet Bear!
Bear1a
Bear is a handsome German Shepherd who loves people and is always up for activity!!
He is VERY smart and ready to go, go, go!!!

Bear has been at the adoption center for awhile now and we would like to give him a vacation!  He is about 5 years old.
Bear cannot live in a home with cats and would do best in a home with either adults or children over 10 years of age, due to his activity level.  Bear needs to be the only dog in foster home.

Please contact me if you can give Bear the break that he needs!!

Meet Rexy!
Rexy
Rexyis a Rat Terrier Mix who needs love and understanding. Rexy needs a very calm environment. He would do best with someone who has prior experience with the Rat Terrier breed and who currently doesn’t have a dog.  Rexy is about 4 years old.

Rexy needs several days to warm up to his foster home, but once he gets onto a schedule and trusts you, he does very well.

If you can provide a quiet, adults only, no cat, foster home for Rexy, please contact me.

Meet Peb!
Peb
Peb is a sweet dog who loves to cuddle! She is working on her obedience and needs a foster who will provide consistency for her.

Peb can do okay around cats, but would best as the only dog in the foster home.

Peb is about 4 years old. She loves her toys and will greet you with one in her mouth!

To learn more about Peb and fostering her, please contact me!

Meet Piper!
piper
Piper is a young gal – just over a year old.  She is a sweet dog who needs a foster home that can provide structure, exercise and love!

Piper would do best as the only pet in the foster home.

Please let me know if you can give her the “holiday” that she needs!

Meet Zera!
Zera
There isn’t enough time to express how wonderful this dog is! Zera is young – just under 2 years old. She is a real sweetheart and walks like a dream on the leash!

Zera loves everyone and will be a great companion for you to foster!

Zera will need to be the only dog in the home.

Please let me know if you can provide a foster home for Zera!
